Yes, the F150 spare release has a bad design that allows corrosion to build up in the lowering mechanism. A bit of lube before you need it pays great dividends, cold weather OR warm.

Good advice...and all remember even though it has instant temp affects, wd40 is designed to remove moisture, not primary lube...get small can motorcycle/gate chain lube for such...and while at it, hit door latches, trunk hood latches, hinges etc.....

Motorcycle chain lube, 1shot your genius. I have a screaming baring and couldnt reach it, and thats the answer. Off to buy a can this very afternoon.
1shot and Pops, that mutual friend who had some trouble has just been told he doesn't, all cleared up. Sadly, not before other bridges were burnt but he says he will be fine. He added it did brighten an otherwise quite few months.

Some food expiration dates can be ignored. Others; not so much.

With the summer storm season upon us, check your generators & battery back-up units . Run 'em a while "under load" just to give 'em a bit of a workout, BEFORE they're called in dire need.

If you've installed/secured your trailer hitch set with securing locks, it might be a good idea to pull it occasionally and re-graphite the locking mechanism. I let mine sit undesturbed for two years and had a devil of a time removing it this morning.
Another item to add to the monthly "to do" list. Kinda 'nutsy' I imagine, however my generators, saws, pumps, etc work when I need 'em!

Duct tape is a nice thing to have for many applications, I find the end quickly by putting a paperclip under the cut end.

That is a pretty good idea. I've always just folded the end under, which wastes an inch or so of tape every time you use it.

Like Pops I folded under but the paperclip is a great idea, also you could re use the clip after the roll runs out on the next one. Actually there is another tip. I often work on guns and use small bits of duck tape t avoid scratches. For example I used a C Clamp to compress a mainspring, the lower side of the clamp pressed on the front strap. A piece of duck tape on the strap stopped any scratching.
