Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys and Lionel. Great fun, for those days when I couldn't grab the rifle and head out with the dog. Pops

Ah, looks fun. None here. WEll, that's because Lincoln was a big deal here, growing up in a log cabin, who eventually was President and ''freed the slaves.'' Seems like during our Civil War Yall' were otherwise involved in other countries. Yup, at the time of our Civil War, the Brits were busy beating up on the Maori people in New Zealand. Oh, and then there was also that little affair with Bhutanese (the Duar War) in 1864-65 too.

Seems like during our Civil War Yall' were otherwise involved in other countries. Hm, we declared slavery illegal here in 1833. Of course, in different forms it remains today in many places, including this one. More so since eastern european counties joined the EU. Many eastern europeans are brought here by their 'gang masters' to work. Mainly in fields, for no pay and terrible conditions. It is disgraceful and there seems little we can do about it. The sooner we separate fully from the EU the better. Had we joined the Euro, it would be worse. Meeting European politicians and Brussels workers last year reinforced my fears. In a social environment, off guard if you will, they laughed as they spoke of the UK becoming a European state, and being forced to accept the Euro in place of the pound. I laughed back, and said not if the British people have anything to do with it.

Notice their right ears are normal and their left ears go out almost perpendicular to their heads, and both have that little bump at the same place on the left ear. Is it just a coincidence or a family trait some six generations apart? Yes, he is the smaller of the two

Rich, we were pretty much always fighting someone somewhere. Given our view of ourselves is always going to be bias, I do see how others could see the Brits as one of the most violent nations on earth! ask any Spanish living in or near holiday destinations and I think they still have that view. Sadly.

Sadly. The long and the short of it, Tranter, is that any nation which has achieved world power and influence--and that certainly includes both Britain and the US--is inevitably going to be engaged in conflicts, large and small, on an almost continuous basis somewhere in the world. The little dogs are always yapping at the heels of the big dogs, but at some point the little dogs have to discover that the big dogs can bite, and when they do, the lesson can be rather painful. Otherwise, the little dogs will keep up with their yapping.

Some more shots with my ''new'' lens. Excellent work, Red! I especially like the photo on the far left. What kind of flowers are those? I don't recall ever seeing a flower like that before.

Thank you, it's Milkweed. That's what Monarch butterflies eat. These are with my new 30 year old lens (Minolta).
