I knew it, the mag in a Sig 225, P6, just looked too much like a P38 mag. It looked close and I know designing mags is really difficult. It seemed likely the Sig designers looking for a single stack 9mm would base it on a tried and tested layout. After a bit of research I find that they can be used. Only they mag is a bit long, so sticks out a little, also needs a release slot cutting, as the P38 uses a heel latch.
Lets see..

From what I can read on it, most of us could probably get them to work. I noticed some said make sure was a Walther mag not other vendor, and some said ball cycled but not HP...and SEVERAL said slide always locked open.....so...dont know if release mod wasn't exact enough or still a question of the follower..if so, could probably be adjusted ? ....Ok for range, but one should sure run plenty through before carry...

1shot, certainly for defence use I would only suggest factory originals, or perhaps a well known and trusted pattern made specifically for the model. As for slide lock back issues I have solved such in the past by cutting away the follower part that trips the lock. The gun will no longer lock back when empty, but wont trip by accident. We used to have training mags so modified for dry fire, so you could cycle on empty, having replaced the magazine.
If anyone reading this decides to try it, mark the base plate with a splash of red paint. You dont want to mix them up with fully working magazines.

Well, it works sort of. I cut the slot a couple of mils too low so no lock back and found a great spacer for the base, a couple of thick rubber pipe seal rings. I keep boxes of suchlike, sad, I know. anyway, looks fine but the effort and poor fit makes it hardly worthwhile. Ah well, you have to try such things once.

Indeed 1shot. I have given up and stripped the P38 mag out for spares. Interestingly the spring and follower work fine in a 225 mag. The rest is now junk.
