This is very odd, even strange. I never discussed it before and wish I had earlier. Non the less here seems as good as place as any. I have a memory of being in battle, only its not my memory. It cant be. I have seen conflict in the 1970s and early 80s, but this has nothing to do with that. In this memory I am at the extreme left of a line of musket armed soldiers, we just stepped out from a tree line. I look to my right and see the line, maybe 100 yards long. I look to the front and see a mass of figures charging toward us. We level our muskets on on the command, fire. Lots of smoke, the attacking mass hit us, our line starts, in part to fall back. Thats it. Now for years I took it to be from my school days, we played a game called British Bulldog which entailed half the school charging the other half. But it seemed more than that. A scene from a movie watched as an impressionable youngster? Perhaps, but the memory is strong and clear. I remember being on one knee, firing, glancing to my right and seeing some men being pushed back. Really I am left with one inescapable conclusion, which cant be true. A dramatic moment from a former life. Make of it what you will....Its as clear today as it ever was.

Ever see the movie Patton?
It starts out with Georgie and his chief of staff Omar going to a battle, where the Allies had gotten their butts kicked. They come to a crossroads and George says to turn left, and Omar says the battlefield is to the right, and George says no, it's left. So they turn left and end up at a big vacant field. And George tells the story of a battle that took place there between the Romans and someone else (?) And he tells the story so VIVIDLY that Omar says, "Dang, George, you sound like you were there", and George says, "I was".
Patton believed he'd been reincarnated several times as a soldier.

Interesting. I am not saying thats what it is. I really dont know. I do know memory is a funny thing. I asked psycologist friend and she said any memory of any event is only as good as the last time you thought of it. Thus the further back you go, to a memory from long ago the less reliable it is. Very curious.
