She looks a little Like our old Dog Ethel, she was a Rat Terrier. She was feisty, really disliked other big Dogs , and extremely protective near one. I love a little terrier! Wish I could have one, but charming Zoey won't hear of it. You might be surprised, Ralph likes most dogs, but some he doesn't.

My little Mini Aussie has only ever gotten along with one dog -- a bitty chihuahua who was totally submissive. She puts big dogs on the ground. Got that pit bull in a little body thing going on.

Sounds like a dominant Alpha. A puppy of opposite sex would be submissive. We've takin a Dog to pound with us, so when they meet, Alpha dogs are less protective, dogs often times. I just like 3 or 4 pets at a time, keeps me entertained.

A lot of it, for her, is about territory. She met a male Heeler -- a very beta boy -- in our home and she was very aggressive, but she had met him earlier one time in neutral territory and was really different, excited and a little confused but not aggressive at all. It's a mystery. I wish I could find a dog that she would accept into our home, because I'd like another dog.

We had a Terrier-Dachshund mix Fred, who came first, Ethyl was next. Fred lived 20 years and 10 months. When Fred died, Ethyl. grieved for almost a year, she would not leave the bedroom except to 'go' outside. She even ate in there. They were together over 10 years.

Dogs are so wonderfully loyal! 20+ years is a LONG dog life! Zoey is going to be 16 in a few months, if the vet's estimate of her age when I adopted her is close. I'm amazed how well she is recovering from our having placed her daddy in the care facility almost nine months ago. She has gotten to see him a few times, but their relationship is not close like it once was. They both seem to be ambivalent about the presence of each other.

IMHO, He has changed, and she's well aware of it, so she takes it as a brush off. She probably cares more for you now, you are her universe.
