I didn't know where else to put this except in the "history" thread. Do you have a family heirloom firearm with a known, special (positive) and/or historical story? I hope that there are those that do, but I will start off with the one that I wish could talk... (shooteruk spurred my thoughts with the post about the 1873 Winchester). Mine is an 1858 Allen & Wheelock, .22 Black Powder, rim fire, side hammer pistol. My great grandfather is said to have carried it in the civil war as an, "up close and personal protection" firearm. He and his unit were present at Appomattox when Lee surrendered to Grant. Yeah, we're a late family, my Grandfather was born in 1889. I have fired it a few times over the years, but without the black powder "push," I have to check the barrel after each shot with the modern fast burning powder to make sure the bullet has exited the barrel. There are a few times that it had not. So... I haven't fired it in well over 20 years. As a bonus, I even have the leather belt holster! I WISH THIS GUN COULD TALK!
