In the last month I have received 3 phone calls for a poll. All were political, with twenty questions, and a 6 to 10 minute average for a time limit. All three were ended after 3-4 questions, two because I was too old, and one because I said I was a conservative. I was pretty upset, because someone finally included me in a poll, or so I thought.

Polls are like a questionnaire.
I got one from the grocery store the other day. They wanted to know how often I bought this one particular item. All the time, occasionally, only for special occasions.
They did not have an option that said I HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THAT. And I could not go on to the next page without answering that question.
Made it a worthless questionnaire.
It's like with a political poll, where they want to know what you think should be done about Black Looters and Murderers. Should they defund the police, or should they give the "protesters" reparations, or should they do this or that or the other thing. None of the options is to bring out a heavy machine gun and mow them down.
This says to me that the poll is skewed.

I block everything on my cell phone that is not a number in my contacts list, which is wonderful. My house phone is technically a cell phone too, but I have to screen calls with the voicemail on that line and caller ID. I prefer not to be bothered, the worst thing is the shopper surveys, "How did we do?" is sort of laughable if you had to buy something at the home improvement store, I've had some absolutely terrible customer service at home improvement stores, they're worse than all other stores!

I wanted to voice my opinion, but I am censored. I'm on Nextdoor, a 'community forum', and I get into trouble all the time, just for sharing my opinion. Sure seems like freedom of speech is getting hard.

It's pretty sad. We like to make fun of everything on the Conservative Knitters forum, but if you think too much about any of it, it gets sort of depressing. All those social media sites, twitter, facebook and all that, they are the devil incarnate.

Once a week, 4-5 old friends come by to solve the world's problems. My brother and one friend are conservatives, and two friends are liberals. We try to avoid politics because the libs are so extreme. I am not a yeller, but they just get wound up. I don't mind dialogue, even like it, but I don't like to get personal. There is no consensus when names start being called. I like issues, they like talking points.

All those social media sites, twitter, facebook and all that, they are the devil incarnate. piney, thank you for that viewpoint. I agree. I am a complete Luddite about technology, which makes me kind of a hypocrite since I'm using technology to talk to you right now. I have never owned a smart phone, nor will I. I use Fascistbook only to keep hubby's friends updated on his health situation, using his account. One thing that kind of convinced me was when I saw my usually unflappable husband get so upset with his phone that he almost had a heart attack. Went into rapid Afib and I had to call the EMS.
I am pleased to be here in this forum because it means that I spend less time in a political forum, which sometimes has a negative effect on my health. If the grid ever goes down, I don't want to be one of those people who will be running around, frantically trying to get that glowing rectangle to talk to me.

If the grid ever goes down, I will not miss it. Me too, it will be an inconvenience, but we grew up without it, most young people would be totally lost.

I think it will be funny watching people trying to figure out what to do. Kids these days don't even read! I've got so many books that it would take months to read them all! I could use a cribbage player, however. Then bring it on!

I simply can't process the fact that there are so many children these days who are not the least bit curious about the world around us. Makes me sadder than I can say.

They can't see past 8 inches in front of their face. Instant gratification might be the Anti-Christ, computer chip might be the mark of the beast. The Nancy said if we passed the tax cut bill there would be Armageddon.
