Last week I got a text from my old gun smith. He and his wife are staying in an RV park in Heber Az. He said his neighbor had two S&W mod 27s for sale for $550 ea and wondered if I was interested. I'm thinking 40 plus yr old used guns, so I told him I would give $900 for both, sight unseen. He accepted. Wife and I drove over and met them and I gave him the money and he produced a 3.5" and 6" mod 27 in presentation cases, new unfired. I was dumbfounded. I put them under the maglite when I got home and it appears no one has ever even introduced a round into any of the chambers.
Pristine and the most beautiful bluing I have ever seen on ANY gun including my Weatherbys.
Did I do good? I would send pics if I knew hoI'll only be at this outer for another hr so won't be able to reply for a couple of weeks

I wonder, if I'd fallen into that deal, if I'd have the nose of that six-inch bobbed?
Because I REALLY like five-inch N-frames.
But, my 44 mangle-'em is still 6 1/2", and I've had it more than 12 years.

Gun Broker is listing them from $800 to $2795, each, looking at just the first page. I'd say you did fairly well. Pops

Thanks Pops, That makes it feel even better.
I got a call from another friend in the cowboy action club to look at a pair of 3.5" ETR 45 colt pistols. Consecutive SNs and both are tuned by Bob Munson and there is a letter for each gun signed by him. Also the double, fast draw rig for them in perfect condition. The actions on these guns are a smooth as anything I have ever handled. I got to shoot them yesterday at the CAS practice session near Show Low az. The guy was asking $750 each and let me have everything for $900., I'm not a "fast Draw" gunny but it will be fun to shoot with these folks. I have a great Win 45 colt now I have to find a "Greener" for the shotgun portion.

so much for spelling
The guns were tuned and the letters are from Bob MUNDON not munson. The paperwork says ETR Hartford Colt pistols.
I'll get the actuals and post when I get home this afternoon

They're not Colt. Not for no 750 dollars. I wonder if it might say EMF? EMF (Early and Modern Firearms) is a company in California, and one of the guns they sell is the Hartford Model. www.emf-company.com/

Hey Alpo Yo is rite. They are EMF Hartford 45LC, 3.5"" with birdshead grips. My memory not so good so had to go home and read the papers. When all else fails. Aside, they are really fun to shoot and pretty accurate even for me out to 15 yes.

When I first decided to play cowboy, much money was spent with EMF.
Two 5 1/2" 44/40s and a 4 3/4" 32/20, all Hartfords, a pair of Dakota 4 3/4" 45s, an Uberti 73 in 44/40 and two Sharps in 45/70.
Discovered that 4 3/4" single actions feel very weird in my hand. So thoae three went away. But the other 4 are still here.

I had another deal just a few weeks earlier and picked up a birdshead Ruger in 45 LC so now have three with these grips. I found the Ruger in a small pawn shop in Pinetop Az and it is like new and the gy let me have it for $600. It was my very first with these grips and I love em. The new ones are "Pinkerton" models and I actually measured the barrels and they are 4" not 3.5s. I measured from the end of the threads to the crown and it is factly 4". So maybe Munden got it wrong or measured differently. Doesn't matter they are beautiful and they came with cowboy action dual, fast draw holsters. Looks like they are probably a pretty expensive set of belt and holsters. Most of that stuff is like everything else "expensive". I doubt I will ever use the holsters (too fat) old etc. But have shot the guns and they are a delight. I'm taking them along with the Ruger(s) to Wyo next week so my son and I can shoot them. He is really excited to see them and the two mod 27s I picked up. (unfired). I sent him pics of the guns but there is no way to appreciate the bluing own the s7s except to see them in person. I have never seen deeper or better bluing on any gun I have ever handled.

Cmon Pops
Im going to leave here Sa about noon probably as far as Page then go the rest of the way Su.
Them ere prairie dogs are barking for us to come up for target practice. Plenty of room on the hood of the truck for nuther shooter.
Welcome any time and it would be a true kick to get to meet you and do some of this very serious shooting. We do NOT pay to shoot these guys. They are all on BLM and railroad sections or a few school sections. Anyway it is open to anyone who wants to shoot and there are a good plenty of them. My son and my brother and myself have three rifles so they can cool out and we don't have to stop shooting. lol

Unfortunately, I have a very important meeting Sunday with the Militia. We have to finalize plans to back up neighboring area(s) in case Antifa's November 4th spreads this far into the boondocks. That is more important than my personal enjoyment.
Another time, however ...
