Just bought a Mossberg MVP Patrol. I was looking for a sort of mini scout, 5.56mm is easy on the shoulder, plus it takes M16 mags, that are cheap as chips here. Found a guy at the show last week selling them by the five.... I now have plenty enough to see off the flying monkeys, if they attack...
I cleaned it out, barrel especially. I stuck a flash suppressor on the muzzle (looks far more balanced), a Sparc 2 singlepoint on the rail, and a sling. Still not sure of the Spark 2, Youtube seems divided, but more pros than cons..
I will give it its first outing tomorrow, if I can. See how she performs.

Performance, excellent. Accurate and easy to shoot. The bolt actions a bit lumpy, but useable. In order to use AR mags the bolt has a sprung drop down lip at the front. I dont like the design, looks weak, but if Mossberg built it, I trust it. The short barrel at 16" is noisy, but less so than a Mosin Nagant. I screwed an A2 flash surpressor on the end, looks more balanced. And OK, cooler.... As any experienced shooter knows, a cool looking gun shoots better..
Funny thing, I bought a pack of 750 rds of Hornady 5.56 'training' ammo. Steel cased. Says its as accurate as regular ammo, but cheaper as steel non reloadable cases. Works fine but the dark cases are an issue. When using a bolt action I glance on reloading to glimpse the brass going into the chamber. In case of a misfeed. Anyway you cant see the cartridge as its all too dark. I wont but this ammo again.

Every picture I can find shows it with a flash suppressor on it already.
Did you changer out the one it came with, or did it come with bare threads?

Alpo, it came without a flash hider but with a collar that covered the threads. I used an A2 that went straight on, using some proper AR spacer washers, that come in various thicknesses so as to get it right way up! I will try to post a pic........

I tried to attach a pic but as always on this site, it failed. Always says its too big? Ah well. That's what my first wife said.
