I stopped in a little, out of the way gunshop near Lakeside Az two weeks ago primarily to see if the fellow stocked cast lead bullets. He did not, but as luck would have it I noticed an immaculate Birdshead Ruger 45LC. I nearly fell over as it is only the second one that I have ever seen. He gave it to me to check it out and it is like new and I am not kidding. Blue barrel and cylinder with nary a mark on either and beautiful, steel frame. Needless to say I was sold and absolutely thrilled. He even gave me an excellent price. I have been shooting it nearly every day since and it is THE most comfortable of all of my cowboy action revolvers to hold, grip and shoot. Just had to share and this is the first time I have been home and near my computer.

I've not seen one of the Ruger bird's head ones, but have shot a few of the others, including black powder ones. They just don't fit my hands well and are not comfortable for me.

I love 45lc in a revolver. Had a S&W, maybe a M25, 4" Brl once. Excellent gun and great fun.

I had a 1917 Colt's revolver, USMC issue is very good shape. Lost it to a police officer who raided the evidence locker and disappeared.

Just got back from nutter hosp visit. Had a chance to shoot this gun some more before I went in and it is without doubt one of the most comfortable of all the cowboy action pistols that I own. The grip to me seems as natural as breathing.

Personally I found birdshead grips left the gun front heavy. Just me....

First time I ever fired a birds head grip was one of these. Gun rolled back in my grip, to where the barrel was pointing straight up. My next experience was with one of these. Not as much roll, but still could not hold on to it. Maybe the trigger guard helped hold it down, maybe the extra weight of the longer barrel. I have one of these. Got the curve, but that shoulder keeps it in my hand. MUCH easier to get a second shot off.
