These Mausers just seem to keep following me home !! I picked up this clean 1912 receiver cheap off Gunbroker. I already had a nice trigger guard/magazine , and a bolt. Numerich provided a nice semi-inletted walnut stock. When I picked up the receiver at my local gun shop, the owner offered me a couple Brounells Mauser barrels for $60 each, one in 30-06 and one in 308. I installed the 30-06 barrel on this receiver and set the headspace. Here're some pictures with the barreled receiver installed. I'm going to take my time on this one.

Looking good. I have to say, I understand your Mauser thing. They are one of the goldilocks guns....Just right. I have just one at the moment, but had it for years. Sweet to hold, sweet to fire and as long as I do my bit will print where I point it at any reasonable distance.
Now see you have that picatinny rail sitting atop the receiver. I have explored such in the past but cant get by the hight of the optic re the comb. You just dont get a cheek weld and end with a floaty head. The Mauser is essentially a sporter that can fight. The Lee Enfield was all fighter, that can sport, sort of.
Any Mausers I have had, including my current K98 end up with no more than the open Irons. Which to be fair, are pretty good.
Enjoy building this one. Guns are great. I feel sorry for those who dont get that, really. So many types, so much history, a pleasure to own and a blast to use. What, I mean whats not to like?
