Selling a rifle for family needs is always traumatic. I remember having to pawn my guns shortly after getting back from Europe, so I could feed the wife and son. I did manage to get them back, but walking out of that shop, leaving behind the 03A3 I had bought in 1948 was not a pleasant experience.

Good to see you back Quetaho !!! 6 years ago after my brain surgeries and before I got disability I had to sell six guns over the course of a year to make ends meet. I get a kick out of the guys that say "I'll never sell one of my guns. I learned long ago not to say never as God has a sense of humor : as if we really have total control over our lives !! Just look at what's going on in Texas and Louisiana right now !!!

Bumping an old thread here. In the pursuit of learning to reload, I just purchased 900 cases for my .32 H&R Mag loads!
Newbie happy dance!
After I meet my new instructor tomorrow, I will have more of an idea of how to chase down the rest of the supplies I need to get started, as well as all the equipment and accessories I will need. This will be my personal triumph over the a-hole in Montana who laughed when I said I wanted to learn to reload!
And if this never goes anywhere, I'll make a very impressive brass wind chime!

My press and other equipment were quite an investment, I know I didn't need a digital scale but I wanted one. I have a feeling supplies are scarce again because of 'the way things are right now' in the US.

My press and other equipment were quite an investment, I know I didn't need a digital scale but I wanted one. I have a feeling supplies are scarce again because of 'the way things are right now' in the US. I get the same feeling. I see a lot of "Out Of Stock" in the online catalogues.
I have been advised that I absolutely need a digital scale that will weigh powder in 10ths of a grain. I will start out loading my .32 rounds, so yeah, that kind of precision might be a good idea. I have an old German gold scale but the smallest counterweight I have for it is a half-grain.
I had a friend who wanted me to buy his dad's old reloading equipment from his mom, but she simply wanted the same price for it as I would likely pay for a new setup, and what she's got hasn't been used in 30 years!
It's going to be an adventure, for certain!
