Just got home after a few weeks away. The big C is kicking my tail a bit more often now. But I wanted to share with all of you but Pops as he is the sharpshooter long distance etc. lol. Not that all of you aren't.
I finally had some time out of the hosp and got to work on my loads for the 6mm SLR. When I sold my range and business, Remington gave me a new Sendero in 308. I used the action, bought a Broughton barrel for 105 gr 6mm, jewel trigger and HS stock and the kids who bought the range gave me a night force 8.5x42 scope so have excellent. A young man in Evanston Wy did the machine work and I did the original sighting.
I went out and got some scores/groups yesterday. Altitude is 6350 ft and no wind. Temp was 64 degrees.
I used Lapua cases, .243 sized to 6 SLR, 105 gr. Berger VLD target bullets, 43.5 gr. RL19 and Fed 210GM LRPs. Shot these groups.
!00yards, .467, 200 yds .786, 300 yds 1.596. For a very shaky old man I am tickled to death. I am going to try using the 105 Scenar bullets at the same distances and then will go find a place to shoot 500 out to 1000 to see how I do. I'll be gone this afternoon until next Wed. (more tests) but will check then to see any replies.
stay well.

Thanks so much you all. Prayers are the best answer to everything, so my thanks from the bottom of my heart. I do pretty good most days, just the danged nausea from the meds that really kicks butt. Sometimes I think the cure is worse then the disease.LOL
I was going out to a place to try the 500 yard distance just to see how they perform but it rained most of the morning and is still drizzling off and on. So, if weather permits and the porcilin pot isn't calling I will get to give it a go tomorrow. I'm going to try my 7mm08 and 257 Roberts also. I have both of them shooting sub MOA at 100 so will be fun to try them at the further distances.
Will try to get back on line late tomorrow PM if I get to shoot.
You all are still the greatest. Stay well all.

Hey y'all
Luther good day. I got set up and tried the same loads with the 6LR at 500 yards. The wind came up and was blowing almost 90 degrees to the target and it was gusting. In fact I had 2.5 minutes for windage to keep the shots on paper. I had 4 minutes elevation and waited for what felt like the same velocity of the wind to shoot and got two, three shot groups under 6 inches at 500 yards. The spread was horizontal not vertical which due to the wind you would expect.
I ran out of time as their was a serious rain storm right on top of me so did not get to shootout the 08 or the 257 roberts.
More when I get to shoot the other two and to try the 6mm with no wind.
