To get back on subject, when I was cooking for a family of teenagers (single father,) my favorite Thanksgiving dinner was a Cornish Game Hen for each diner. Each would express a desired (favorite) stuffing and preparation method, as well as a preferred vegetable(s), potato prep, type of gravy, salad and dressing. It ended up being quite a bit of extra work, but was very satisfying to be able to produce such. One reason it was so satisfying was because I was working light-to-dark on a farm. Therefore, our most common evening meal was a one-pot concoction. As varied as those can be, they soon start to blend together in the mind.
Today, I just open another pot pie or such.

A good dinner pie is hard to surpass. Your game hen process.......well, that's a memory for everyone at the table. Well done!

Shooter, you've listed items of high phrases. Lucky is he (or she) that shares a tight spot with such. I imagine there's a few that might have you in mind, were they to write the same; seeing how it takes 'one' to know one. There have been two or three occasions where I ''entered the fray'' in support for another, though none with actual death looming. After each occasion, I marveled at my lack of intelligence or thought of injury. I assure anyone reading that I was not brave, only concerned for my benefactors safety. I think it was more stupidity than bravery.

Courage is when one acts while knowing the potential consequences of such action. You read often about people doing things that are called courageous, when that person was actually just responding to a sudden need. Jumping into action without thinking of what harm YOU might suffer by doing so shows what you consider is right and proper.

I consider my acts to help others as merely necessary. Many times we are our brothers keeper. When I was a young lad (around eight), I was saved from drowning by a young women was 5 or 6 years older than myself, but less than half of my weight. That was a pure act of courage.

I have jumped in a few times. I know the reason well, and admit to it willingly. Its fear. Fear of letting others down.
As an example, I turned into a street and found a knife wielding thug pulling a womans handbag from her hands. What are you going to do? Watch? Run off to find a policeman? Another was a women being wrestled to the ground by the side of a road. Again, what are you going to do? Drive off? In your own California I found myself facing a thug being chased for shooting a guy? What to do? Run away and find a cop to tell him what you saw? There are others but the driving force is the same. I wont let others down. I cant be that person.

Right before I was assaulted, all my "friends" went back to their own apartments and minded their own business.
Yeah, I am pretty choosy about people that earn the title "friend" in my world. I don't have a lot of friends now, but I trust them with my life.

I think we all have a responsibility to help others if it is in our power. I have always believed I could have been a professional football if someone would have given me the right encouragement and coaching. In my own way, I try to fill that void for my kids. I am driven and very passionate about my charges, they know I love them, and I hope they care for me.

:drool:This time of year there's nothing like a big pot of chili, and I can make a pretty good batch myself. Not blazing hot as these old innards don't tolerate it , but spicy enough to clear your sinuses. Add some cornbread >>> Nirvana !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JR
