Alpo, it didn't spoil me. Ok, maybe a little.

That's okay. You must be downwind. I can't smell you.

Shucks, you guys both got much more than I did as a kid. My "allowance" was a goose egg, as in ziltch, nada, naught, as in unsubsidized, and SOL. My only means of acquiring any spending money was to work for it during the summers, and later, at part time jobs during the school year. On the other hand, my dad did give me opportunities to earn money from time to time, often working for him unloading barrel stock when deliveries came in about every two weeks or so. My dad was a wholesale distributor for Standard Oil Co. and the oils, greases, and a few light products like kerosene were delivered to the plant via truck and trailer. Someone had to be on hand to unload the stock from the trailers, mostly 550 lb. barrels of various oils, 135 lb grease containers, and 35 lb. pails of grease. When we got large deliveries, which was often at some times of the year, that could be quite a workout, The exercise though later came in pretty handy for me. During my high school years I was on the wrestling team, and the upper body strength I built up doing that gave me a considerable edge in competition.

Well I also worked as a kid, a paper round. A rickety bike that bits would fall of off from time to time. I enjoyed it until leaving school at 14. Yes, stupid but at the time......
