PEAK FALL FOLIAGE here in Maine! Yes m'am. Been through your area and surrounding states this time of year and winters. Have taken a ferry from Burlington VT. into upper NY. ....spent fall through winter last prison I ever did, in PA. I have done a bit of art work in my day, as you know from cartoon I gave you, and can talk about the millions of colors/hues as a digital engineer. But I have seen and photo'd some forest lines in areas like yours that contained palletes mixed only by the man upstairs. Good huntin and good time if you get to go. 1shot

LE, indeed, my life over the last two years has been somewhat 'interesting'. If you will excuse the understatement. Email me if you still have my email, I will tell you a story worthy of a passable book.

Growing up in Wy. While living on the East side near the Ne border, I hunted pheasants. Some of the best hunting in the whole state. Best eating you can stick a fork in. Then when I was a freshman, my dad was a Wy hiway patrolman, we moved to the Ut side of the state and they had/have sage chickens, smaller than pheasants but very tasty. Also hunted Canadian geese which mom fixed for TG and Xmas dinners. Hunted back then over my German Shorthair, jigs. It is poetry to watch a good pointer work the field for birds. I haven't been able to hunt for several years, and sorely miss it and the meat. Elk and deer hunting on now and my brother just got his Muley buck, a nice four point field dressed 289 lbs. I helped him cut and wrap it mostly chops, roasts and hamburger with pork suet mixed. Going out with him this Sa to get an elk. I think is the very best tasting of all the big game animals. UF

UF, you may not be able to hunt as you did but you can still buy and enjoy the meat. I dont, and never did shoot geese. However we enjoy one every Christmas. Much more traditional over here, rather than the more common, cheaper Turkeys. No sure where they came from...... Oh, right.

My son has his home on the ranch and there are a lot of deer we see openly so it is not a problem to have that meat. He and my brother still get their tags and hunt deer and elk every year and provide me with stacks, chops and a roast or two. So I still get some meat. If I am able to trAvel such as I did this year, I was able to ride out deer hunting with them and helped them get their bucks. It's just that hunting has always been a family tradition with the camping etc. so it is the getting together for the activity. That, more than the meat is what I miss so much. Even visiting during the season, we no longer camp for the week to hunt, tell stories and build n. Ones for the future. UF

UF, I agree with you that the "hunt" is great, but the memories of camp, the getting outside to see nature in its glory/bleakest and the time spent with friends and family is even more special. Those are times not soon forgotten.
